Health and Physical Education 

 

Lancefield Primary School provides a quality Health and Physical Education program for every student.  

 

It is designed to prepare students for a healthy and active lifestyle through the development of skills, knowledge, teamwork and positive attitudes.


Our Health and Physical Education Program provides students with a wide range of physical and sporting experiences focusing on the sequential development of fundamental motor and loco-motor skills, sport specific skills, fitness and various team and individual sports. Swimming and Water Safety Programs are also offered to all students to participate in.

 

All students compete in our School Athletics and Cross Country Carnivals for their Houses during Terms 1 & 2.  On House Sports Days, students are encouraged to wear clothing in their House colours.  

The four Houses are:

  • Mount Macedon (Blue House)
  • Cobaw (Green House)
  • Mount William (Yellow House)
  • Melbourne (Red House)

 

Senior students are also able to gain selection into various District sports.  These include:

  • Cross Country
  • Athletics
  • Summer Sports (Volleyball, Tee Ball and Cricket)
  • Tennis
  • Orienteering
  • Basketball

 

Term 4

P/1A & P/1W

This term the Prep/1 students will be focusing on linking their fundamental motor skills knowledge into movement sequences during minor games. The students will be using trial and error to help decode movement problems, and be able to identify body reactions. All students will also be participating in a tennis program in the middle of the term. Our You Can Do It key of “confidence” will also play a key focus, with students becoming more independent and will have an understanding of how to learn from mistakes.

2/3J & 2/3E

Throughout this term the grade 2/3 students will engage in a tennis program with local Lancefield Tennis club coach as well as major sports cricket and handball. Students will be aiming to understand the You Can Do It key of “Confidence” by engaging in more independent tasks, and having a go at new and difficult activities. Grade 3 students will have the opportunity to trial and represent the school in the cricket Milo T20 Blast School cup held on Monday 30th October in Gisborne. Parents are welcomed to attend to support and help out on the day.

 

3/4A, 4/5M & 5/6W

During Term Four, P.E sessions will engaging in the major sports of cricket and tennis with a strong focus refining the one handed and two handed strike. All lessons will have a strong emphasis on the You Can Do It key of “Confidence”, working on taking risks and trying new and unusual sports. The Grade 4 students will have the opportunity to trial and represent the school in the cricket Milo T20 Blast School cup held on Monday 30th October in Gisborne. The grade 5 and 6 volleyball team will also be participating the regional finals held on the 2nd of November in Swan Hill. Parents are welcomed to attend to support on these days.
